About
In rapidly growing urban areas public spaces are often contested and children have lost considerable ground in the recent past to urban development.
Through the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge, the Government of India built over 50 public spaces for children in 10 Indian cities.
To showcase the impact of this initiative, we were tasked with producing a compelling video that captured real stories from the ground. In just two weeks, we covered over 40 locations across eight cities, documenting how thoughtful urban interventions can transform everyday environments for children and caregivers.
GRS Fantasy Park’s core tenet in its 25 years of operation has been to create joy. However, growing footfall and operational challenges at the entry gate and ticketing areas were creating bottlenecks. Overcrowding, pedestrian-vehicular conflicts, long wait times, and unclear navigation led to an unpleasant experience for guests on busy days, while operations struggled to keep up.
To address this, we facilitated a 5-day design sprint using design thinking principles. Through tactical urbanism prototypes, we reimagined the entry experience—transforming the parking space outside the entry gate into a plaza. We replaced 10,000 sq. ft. of parking with seating and waiting areas for people. We implemented a road diet to streamline vehicle paths and reclaim even more safe space for pedestrians.
Our interventions improved visitor experience and realigned GRS Fantasy Park’s operations with its long-term goals. By uniting departments through collaborative problem-solving and delivering guest-centric solutions, we turned a complex challenge into a win for the park, its staff, and its guests.
